Understanding the exception rule
Certain countries are exempted from applying for a tourist visa to Thailand. If you are from the countries of Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bahrain, Brunei, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Kuwait, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Malaysia, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America or Vietnam, you need not apply for the tourist visa Thailand. However, if you are not from the above mentioned countries, you will have to apply for a visa.
Necessary Document needed for the tourist visa
When applying for a tourist visa certain documents and fees are needed to obtain one. The documents and the fee are subject to change anytime and without prior notice, so it would be a good idea for you to inquire before applying for Tourist Visa Thailand.
• Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months and two opposite pages empty
• Visa application form filled out with accurate details
• 2 recent photographs of the applicant
• Proof of roundtrip air ticket or e-ticket
• Proof of sufficient financial sum i.e. 20,000 baht per person and 40,000 baht per family
• Proof of hotel/accommodation reservation in Thailand covering total number of days wished to say in Thailand. If you are staying with a resident family, you will need to provide the invitation letter, and ID proof of the inviter.
The fee for a single entry visa is RS. 2000 which is valid for 3 months and the applicant can stay for a period of 60 days. The fee for a double entry is RS. 4000 which is valid for 6 months and the stay cannot exceed 60 days. You can have your passport and visa couriered at your home address for an additional charge. This charge however, is not refundable even if the application is refused or withdrawn. it normally takes around 3 working days for the application to process
Visa on arrival
Now, Indian citizens have an option of obtaining a tourist visa for Thailand, with the visa on arrival option. This is valid only for 14 days and the fee is 1000 bath. You will need to have return flight tickets only, with additional proof of sufficient funds per person. You will also need to submit proof of address, and invitation letter of the lodging or accommodation.
